Jon Yoder, of Yoder Family Farms in Sturgis, MI, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 12, a little more than a week after suffering a head injury on his farm. Yoder was injured on Oct. 3. He was hospitalized and on life support and never regained consciousness following the injury.

In addition to his work as a potato farmer at Yoder Family Farms, Yoder was an active member of the Michigan potato industry, including serving as a commissioner for the Michigan Potato Industry Commission at the time of his passing.

Yoder was a member of Grace Church in Sturgis. The church held prayer vigils following his injury, and its Facebook page is a good source for updates on visitation and funeral services. Donations to assist Yoder's family with medical bills and other expenses can be made to Grace Sturgis (269-651-1991), or through this GoFundMe page

Visitation and Celebration of Life Services will be announced Thursday through Grace Sturgis Church. Communications can be mailed to Yoder's wife, Carissa Yoder, and their children to 64926 M-66, Sturgis, MI 49091.
